An Instagram theme page is a page that revolves around one single niche (animals, memes, food…). This is good for us because you don’t have to be social/famous to attract follower; All the people follow the page for more content of whatever you post rather than who you are. This means that have to expose your personality to anyone in order to get followers, you just focus on posting stuff you enjoy.

But before starting to grow your page, you have to make sure that the way you brand your is right, so you make you starting the right way. That’s what i will discuss in the next section below.

Branding

One thing that you should focus on when creating a theme page is branding. What i mean by branding is the way in which you present your page through the profile picture, bio and name.

Profile picture

You have to choose a profile picture that will rise people’s curiosity on what you post and what your page is all about. It has to be representative to your content. It doesn’t have to be a professional logo. For example, If I’m running a dog page, then I would go with a cute puppy picture/illustration. If you think that a logo will match your page the best, then get a free-to-use illustration/design and add your page’s name below or over it using any basic mobile editing app.

Bio

Bio should be attracting and convincing. It should contain a summary of what you post and a call to action that pushes people to follow you. Note that a couple of emojis always add to the aesthetic of your bio.

A good example would be something like this :

Name and username

Your name can be anything that makes sense and is relevant to the content you provide. What you should focus on in my opinion is the username because it is usually the only thing besides the profile pictures that users use to memorize and identify your page.

Make sure it doesn’t contain any underscore dashes or numbers, unless the name somehow doesn’t make sense without them. For example, always avoid something like : The.dogg_guy46; Instead, go for something like Dogguy. If you can’t find a name that matches the above descriptions and is not used already, then I would suggest to keep looking because that’s the only option in front of you. You can also look at other pages to take inspiration. It shouldn’t be that hard.

How to grow the page.

At first, you will not know how to start because the page is at 0 followers and you have no way to get exposed to potential followers other than through hashtags, but hashtags are not enough. So what do you do? Well, this might seem repetitive and efficient but from previous experience it works. You have to use the follow/follow. Now, I know what you’re thinking, but trust me; I’ve grown several accounts using this method, and you don’t have to use after your account starts reaching for the explore page and ranking on the hashtags. Let me explain.

The only reason we use follow/unfollow method is to gain that first audience that we will rely on to get us to the explore page and rank us first on the hashtags (I’ll talk about hashtags in the following sections). This means that whenever we post something that initial audience that we gained through follow/unfollow will like and comment on our posts; this tells instagram that the post deserve to be ranked high in the hashtags and explore page. Then, the real engagement will start flowing in and you’ll get the followers you want.

Now, follow/unfollow isn’t as easy as it used to be 2/3years ago since Instagram changed its policies and is more strict about bots and bot-related activities. This doesn’t only mean that we should do it manually but also try our best to avoid looking like a bot to Instagram. What I mean is you must never go ham following people in crazy numbers because that’ll most probably get you shadow-banned before you know it. There are limits to this.

As your account starts to get older, it gets more immune to being shadow banned, so I personally prefer to do it like this.

day 1–2 : Follow around 30 people. let be all over the day; don’t do it all at once.

day 3–7 : Follow around 100 people and try to slowly build up to 200 as a maximum. Do like 20 every hour, and make sure these following sessions are separated enough in terms of time.

After day 7 : After day, you might be able to go over safely 250 depending on how you spread your activity and how healthy you make it look to the algorithm. However, I like to keep it at 200 as a maximum.

Note : You can follow up to 7k people on Instagram at the same time, but I prefer to start unfollowing when I reach 5k

For the unfollowing part it’s, Instagram is not as strict, but you should keep your guard up at all times and never go crazy on unfollowing either. Do something similar to the following-pattern above.

You should be good to stop following/unfollowing people once you reach 5k followers or above because then your posts will be more likely to be pushed by the algorithm to rank and be seen by people from the explore page and hashtags. These are all potential followers that your content will be exposed to, and from previous experience with Instagram i can tell you that you’ll grow the most when that happens.

Hashtags

Hashtags play a great role in growing your IG page, and that’s because they are one of the two main sources from which you get new eyes, people that don’t follow you, on your content besides the explore page.

The more bigger the hashtag is the more it is hard to rank on it and the more engagement it gets you, so when you’re just a small account, you don’t want to go for the bigger hashtags. Choose something that’s between 20k — 500k. You want to collect a set of hashtags that contains 30. Don’t go above that because you’ll seem spammy if you use the maximum amount which is 32 hashtags.

(I’ll more in depth on hashtags in future posts.)

Now after reading the whole article, you’re definitely set to go out there and start a successful Instagram theme page.
